Manama, July 20: What may serve as a new move in deciding for Qatar and its offspring’s, the Ministry of Information Affairs, Bahrain announced its decision to continue implementing its June 13, 2017 decision of suspending the importation of the beIN Sports channels. A part of Al Jazeera network, decisions are going to be put into action to suspend the sale and renewal of its subscriptions.
Recently, the minister highlighted that it stepped up inspection campaigns on shops that sell receivers and dealt with them in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the island. Campaigns that targeted the receivers of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera network and the encoded receivers that broadcast illegally, the ministry added by saying that, the beIN Sports hold their involvement in suspicious cases that support terrorism and the agendas of extremist groups that promote the discourse of sedition, hatred, and extremism in the region.
During the broadcast of FIFA World Cup matches, the channel was found to be involved in campaigns of political distortion against several Arab countries and in abuses to discredit them. Condemning abuses that reflect the poor mindset, and terrible standards of media channels, the ministry said, “We reiterate our consistent position of denouncing the policy adopted by the beIN Sports channels that intrude politics into sports in order to achieve personal gains that clash with the universal goals of sports.”
The ministry renewed its call to review the legal position of the beIN Sports channels in each country, especially after the offensive campaigns they adopted to harm the Arab countries and its people.
